Most villages in Malta have their own parish church, which is run by pastoral care and clerical jurisdiction of a parish priest and help by more curates.

Basilica is a grand name given to a church with its riches and treasures, and important historical values, and the place of worship.  A basilica stands out as one of the prestigious centre of active and pastoral liturgy.  The designation as a basilica shows a special link with the pope.

A collegiate as they say or another word for it is similar to a cathedral.  This church is a daily office of worship run by doctrine belief.

A Cathedral which is found in every district in the world is the chief church.  It is a Christian church and accommodates the seat of a bishop, which serves as the central church.

A co-cathedral is a cathedral church and shares the duties of being a bishop’s seat. Usually found in another city.
