Personal Credit Cards In Malta

Personal credit cards are today’s way of travelling. When coming to Malta you can use your credit card/s to pay for your purchases. There are still some locations where you do not find credit card accepting machines. For example, open air markets, small village coffee shops.

With credit cards you can buy air tickets, cinema tickets, clothing, restaurants, car rental, hotels and also fuel for your car.

You can also use credit cards if your official card uses a different currency. There might be locations where they charge for exchange rates, ask before effecting payments.

If you are coming here for just a holiday there is no need to have any account with a local bank. Just your credit card/s. American Express, Diner’s Club, Master Card and Visa are accepted credit cards.

Many ATM’s are available on our islands. Almost all villages and towns have this service available. In business areas, shopping malls, touristic areas, you will probably find an ATM or located close by. They are for HSBC Malta, BOV Malta, APS Bank and Lombard Bank Malta. When you see them on the ATM’s you can check on your credit card it you have the sign.

• To write your pin numbers in a safe place where you can find them quickly if you need them.
• A good suggestion would be to have your home bank details with you in care you have any problems. Also the bank’s emergency numbers when the bank branches are closed.
• Before leaving your country be sure to have checked the expiry date of your personal credit cards.
• You could write them in your mobile phone but do not include the card type in case you loose both your mobile and cards together. Also write the credit card numbers for any eventuality to report to the police or your bank.
• Be sure to sign your credit card with your own signature as provided to your bank on your day of application.
